Summary
Katie used to say that she would do anything to save her brother, for him to be alright.
But recently, she’s found it hard for her brother to actually be alright. The Creaking King has started to take over him, and she feels helpless.
So when the Creaking King offers Katie a simple deal, Katie doesn’t know if she liked being helpless better than being able to do something.
The deal? If she serves the Creaking King, Nom will be free.

“It’s supposed to go on your arm,” Cherri explains, watching her closely for her reaction. “Right about here.” Her fingers reach up and gently touch the place she means. Apo’s mind immediately zeroes in on that spot.
“Yeah, okay,” Apo breathes. The design is perfect. She kind of deeply wants to get it.
“So you like it?” Cherri asks. If Apo didn’t know her any better, she’d say she sounds almost shy. “You want to get it?”
Apo weighs the decision for all of a second and a half before nodding. “Yeah. It’s really cool.” She adds, firmly, “I like it.”

“Think about it,” Sausage prompted. “What is the number one reason why you wouldn’t pursue someone?”
“Uh,” Apo thought about it. “Because it would distract me from my mission of protecting the princess?”
Gently, the mage patted the back of Apo’s hand, as if soothing someone after a great loss. “I was hoping you would say, ‘because they’re already taken,’ but everybody’s different.”
“Well, yeah, of course,” Apo scoffed, yanking away. “A person that already has a partner couldn’t even be considered—”
She went still.
“No,” she whispered. “No, there’s no way you’re suggesting that.”

Summary
Lukey is an amnesiac human alone in a world full of monsters and violence. He's a pacifist, he's a scientist, he is not an alcoholic. He has a stab wound in his stomach and a mysterious hooded figure standing behind him every time he looks in a mirror.
But none of that is important, because there's a bowling competition coming up, and he has to get his teammate, Pangi, back in proper shape so the Honey Badgers can beat the Kingdom and finally take home the trophy.
(And maybe, if he's lucky, he'll finally be able to work up the nerve to ask Pangi out for drinks afterwards.)
