Summary
"You aren't allowed to die without me, Mackerel."
Dazai Osamu expected a violent reunion; instead, he found a void. Convinced Dazai died four years ago, Chuuya Nakahara was driven to the brink and surgically erased—sold as a "broken asset" to the King of Assassins.
Now, Chuuya lives a beautiful, chemical lie in France, his memories of Soukoku cauterized. To reclaim the other half of his soul, Dazai must burn his redemption to the ground and hunt a man who no longer remembers his face.

Summary
Wary footsteps crashed carelessly into puddles as Dazai stumbled forward. He knew he was close but, where was he going again? He looked up, searching for a street sign and the motion of his head sent him lurching to the right. He caught himself on a brick wall. That’s right. Chuuya. He was close to Chuuya.
Goal renewed, Dazai retraced the once familiar path, swaying as he walked. His adrenaline was wearing off now and the pain was setting in. ‘Chuuya.’ he repeated, he was heading to Chuuya.

Summary
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Sitting on the damp, muddy ground, hugging his knees to his chest, not caring about the dirt most definitely getting on his khaki pants and tan coat. When he first got the outfit, it felt like it swallowed him whole. Now, he has grown into it. It is still a bit large on him, his body gangly with the clothes a little loose, but not nearly as oversized as before. More evidence that his body is changing, that he is changing. The more he thinks about it, the worse he feels.
“I’m sorry.”
He rarely apologizes like this, genuine. Maybe it is only something he can only say to a tombstone.
No one ever told him the light would be this lonely.

Summary
“The cup fell?” Chuuya decided to ask, not sure how to approach the situation yet without confirmation on which version of his partner he was about to meet.
“Yes.” Dazai responded, voice monotone and flat.
“And… now you’re keeping it company?” Chuuya tried, completely confused by the scene in front of him.
“Yes.” Dazai replied, still not looking to meet Chuuya’s eyes.
