“I thought you would have grown out of this by now,” Sae says, pulling back his arm, tissue in hand.
“What?”
Sae only holds up the tissue, arching a brow. A barely there curl of his lips.
Rin squints his eyes, annoyance bubbling up at the cryptic response, but then he hones in on the tissue; replays Sae’s words.
He has a horrific, dawning realization. Rin thinks he might throw-up.

Summary
Hiori leans forward, trying to catch Rin’s eyes without unlinking his hands. Rin keeps looking off, setting his gaze half on the horizon, half on the shore.
“If ya say so. You’re actin’ a tad funny,” he says, returning to walk in step. “Let me know if there’s somethin’ ya wanna tell me.”
Yes. There is. But please, his mind begs, please wait.
“Let's just make it to the pier,” Rin says instead.
“Well, if we're goin’ to keep goin’, we can’t have ya bein’ cold,” Hiori chides, his smile curling slightly on one side. He grabs the towel that Rin has slung over his shoulder and fans it out, before draping it around his neck in a mock imitation of a poncho. Then, Hiori snakes both his hands tighter around Rin’s arm, hitching himself closer as if to share body heat.
If he was actually cold, it wouldn’t have done much to help, but the gesture warms him regardless; momentarily setting his nerves at ease as they continue walking.
Everything, for the most part, is going to Plan.

Summary

Summary
In truth, Akutagawa always knew he’d die young; it was simply a matter of how long he’d manage to hang on until his weak, frail body at last gave out. So rather than fear, the diagnosis brings him an odd sense of relief. Now, at least, he has a better sense of the timing. Getting his affairs in order will be easier this way; he has no intention of leaving behind a mess for Gin to sort out.
Still, the bitter irony of the situation doesn’t escape him. The heartless dog of the Port Mafia, struck down because he feels more deeply than his body can withstand. Perhaps that part of him has atrophied, disused for so long, and it’s now collapsing under its own unbearable weight.
