Summary
Higuruma did his best to be subtle about his staring, but he did enjoy tracing the odd lines and whorls of discolored scars on Nanami’s face and neck with his eyes. The most he knew was that Nanami was in an explosion of some kind. He was not a soldier, firefighter, or convicted arsonist (he’d Googled). And that whoever had done his reconstructive surgeries had either loved their job or loved the man himself with how carefully they’d put him back together.
Higuruma really wanted to know what those scars felt like, oddly enough—purely out of his own sick curiosity, of course, but he would never ask. His favorite flaw he could find was how the corner of his mouth on the left side was twisted into a permanent ghost of a smile, which hardly suited the finance professor and entertained Higuruma to no end.

Summary
No one will tell you how hard it is to pretend you’re not crazy. Smiling at every customer one by one like there isn’t a demon hanging onto their back or a strange shadow dogging their footsteps—it’s hard work. I can’t help but be jealous of their ignorance. I wish I didn’t see the monster that follows me either.
I’ve accepted that I’m insane. There are no monsters. There isn’t a pale, long-armed thing with hollowed out eye sockets that follows me everywhere I go. The dozens and dozens of plants I keep in my rooms don’t keep anything away. There’s no reason to be scared. And the tired business man that comes into my bakery everyday definitely doesn’t see them too.

It didn't take long for Higuruma to find out there would be no real introductions. Following Itadori's directions led them to a cemetery, so unless this friend of his was a groundskeeper, they were visiting a grave. His heart weighed heavy in his chest as he shut off the car and followed Itadori out down the footpath.
"He died kinda horribly so there wasn't much left of him, but there's a marker here anyway. I haven't been able to visit him since they put it up with everything that's happened," Itadori explained with an inexplicable cheeriness as they trudged through the snow.
