Class started three minutes ago and the seat next to him remains vacant.
And trust Zuko, he’s heard that he looks standoffish, that his demeanor makes him look ‘evil’ and ‘uninviting’. But he tried this time, he really did.
He made sure he was smiling, or at least had a neutral expression on his face. He had even made sure he wasn’t wearing all black, in hopes to seem more friendly.
But it didn't work.
Zuko was all alone again.or. Zuko is anxious, Sokka is just happy to be there

So, it was Saturday, but Zuko was nowhere to be seen.
It wasn’t unheard of for Zuko to go MIA for a couple hours, sometimes he needed time to decompress or his uncle would call him out to help at the shop, but he would always tell Sokka.or. Zuko is missing, Sokka finds him and he promises his life to the other.

He shakes his head despite the sharp pain in his neck, he has no idea where the sun is, but he can feel the warmth spreading through his body.
He has no idea where the sun is.
He has no idea where Sokka is.
He is afraid.
And then everything goes black.or. Zuko isolates himself in fear, Aang pulls him out of it, Toph let's him know he's cared for, Katara keeps him safe, and Sokka let's him breathe. Literally.

Zuko lived quietly.
When he was allowed to eat dinner, he ate silently. And on the few occasions he was called to eat at the dinner table, he ate like a puppet, hollow and cold.
He walked around the house on edge, tiptoeing through the halls, careful not to make a single sound. Sometimes, it didn’t work.or. Zuko's life is riddled with abuse. Sokka saves him, both literally and metaphorically.

They won’t let him run away, they won’t let him die, so this is the next best option, the next best way to relieve the hurt.
Speaking of, Megumi is especially pressed about not letting him die. Yuji thinks it’s stupid, Megumi doesn’t get to think that he can die but Yuji has to stay alive. He’s the one who called Mahoraga and sacrificed himself, why can’t Yuji do essentially the same?
or. Yuji can't cope with Shibuya, Megumi pulls him out of the darkness that threatens to consume him whole. It works.

He woke up with a dull numbness, nothing unusual, but annoying nonetheless.
Some days were just like this for him. A random film of dread and despair before the day even began. He couldn’t explain it, although Ieiri-san has plenty of times, it’s just the way Megumi was born to be, dreary and sad.

Megumi forces the shadows to dissipate, simultaneously reaching out to grab the faded hoodie, left by his peer.
Somehow, the color didn’t bother Megumi as much as looking outside had.or. Megumi is having a rough day, Yuji helps.
