Summary
Mike turns around and freezes in place, staring straight at Will from across the room that’s now lit up yellow. His eyes roam up and down Will’s body with a certain curiosity—a discovery, maybe, like he’s learning something new. His throat bobs as he swallows, lips parted, and his eyebrows twitch almost too subtly to see. Just a little flick upwards.
“I, uh,” Mike begins, “I can see you now.”
Will smiles. It’s a so-very-Mike thing to say. “I can see you, too.”
or, six times Mike gives Will mixed signals, and one time the message comes through clearly.

this may be the best fanfic, no, piece of literature, I've ever read. the prose and metaphor are inspiring and out of this world. I hope I can write like this in the future. this wasn't just writing. it was art. it was music. it was alive.
I can feel the authors love in the writing. I can feel the passion and the purposeful lines meant to inspire feelings. this fanfic took me on a journey, one I didn't expect but ended up adoring. I will remember this fanfic for a long time. -

As obvious as Mike's eyes landing on Will again, and again, and again.
Vecna had torn Hawkins in half. The air tasted like chemicals and ash. Schools shut down, and soldiers patrolled the streets like the world had tilted just past survivable. Everything was wrong, but Mike Wheeler wasn’t complaining, because two months ago the Byers had moved in with the Wheelers.
Mike’s breath stumbled in his chest. He tried to ground himself, tried to think of anything, anything except the awareness of how close Will was (he was sitting at a normal distance), except the shape of Will’s mouth when he spoke. Maybe if he counted to ten, he could shake off whatever the hell this was instead of staring at Will’s lips like some creep.
One… two… three… four…
When he lifted his eyes again, Will’s eyes were still on him, he was still talking, and he looked so alive.
Five… six—
Mike’s pulse thudded hard enough that the numbers broke apart in his head. The air felt too thin, his chest too tight, everything tilting just slightly off-center around the curve of Will’s smile.
God.

Because sure, Mike thought about it. A lot. More than a normal person should probably think about their best friend’s hands. He was fully aware it was weird. Mildly concerning. Possibly diagnosable.
But he couldn’t help it.

Will blinked. His mouth was dry. “What about me and Mike?”
Lucas groaned loudly, flopping backward into a pile of clothes. “Oh, come on, man. You two are clearly in love with each other.”
Dustin whipped around to jab him in the ribs. “Dude! I thought we were going to play it cool?!”
Lucas elbowed him back without missing a beat. “We are playing it cool!”

Mike and Will have always been close. Close enough that their friends start noticing the soft voices, the gentle smiles, the way Mike only ever seems to be gentle with Will.
A gum-chewing experiment, a handful of soft moments, and one unexpected downpour later… they finally admit it.
