“What did you mean by keeping the RV safe?”
The sheriff asks, suspicion high in his voice as he folds his arms.
Boyd freezes as he moves the blanket back into position.“What?”
“You said that you were making the RV safe, safe from what?”
There's a long pause, Kristi averts her eyes, opting to focus on Stiles and the rod spearing through his leg. Boyd looks unsure of what to say.
“Safe from what’s out there when it gets dark.” He points to the covered window, Stiles presumes he means outside the RV, in the woods.
The sheriff shakes his head. “What does that mean? What’s outside in the woods?”Suddenly there's an animalistic shriek outside and Boyd whips his head to look in the direction it came from.
