Summary
They have always saved each other. That has been the way of it. Although if Aethelflaed was being honest with herself, it was usually Uhtred who did the saving. Perhaps that should bother her, but it does not. He has been longer for this world, and is a warrior both in action and at heart. He does not need help as often as she, by both status of birth and status of gender, but just as she knows that she can depend on him, she also knows that he can depend on her.

Summary
Uhtred supposed most other men in his position would have spent their remaining hours begging for mercy, asking to talk to a priest, praying to the nailed god absolve their sins, but he had long ago resigned those things. Wyrd bio ful araed—his fate would be what it was.
Instead he studied Aethelflaed: her pretty face that had made many a man more than him seek her affections, her eyes that had always shone for him, her lips that had so often curved as they shared a private smile in recognition of the folly hat surrounded them or in response to something only they together found amusing. Somewhere he knew it was a sin to covet another man’s wife, yet Aethelflaed had kissed him once when she thought it perhaps her last chance.
This would be the least of my sins, he thought, and this time he was the one to lean in, to close the space between them.

Summary
Out on the battlefield Uhtred seemed like a hero out of the legends, larger than life, every bit the acclaimed warlord with the reputation he’d built to match, sitting astride his horse, directing men, behind his shield, sword in hand, but Aethelflaed loved these moments the most, the ones where beneath her hands he was nothing more than a man.

Summary
There had never been anyone but Uhtred for Aethelflaed, truly. It had never been right before, not with Gisela and his grief, Aethelred and his schemes, but now there was nothing but them, the quiet of the surrounding swamplands, and the air between them that grew more charged with each passing second.

Summary
A oneshot/drabble of Alfred looking down on Uhtred and Aethelflaed in 4x01 and realizing he was blind to their developing feelings and relationship. Quasi peeping tom of Alfred but I am terribly curious what the other character’s thoughts are of Aethelflaed/Uhtred.
