Despite his master's warning, the wandering red witch Inumaki Toge spills his blood to save the seed of a world tree and finds himself suddenly the center of attention in a territory dispute between rival wolf packs.
The boy is tall, wearing dark jeans and a white jacket, probably around Toge’s age, with black hair and something silver glinting around his neck. His head is tilted back as he looks upwards, his features and expression too hard to see in the darkness. Toge tries to follow his gaze but all he sees is the side of the inn, only a few windows still lit from within. Is he looking for—
The stranger must feel him watching as his head turns and their eyes suddenly meet there on the street.
Involuntarily, Toge makes a soft, breathy sound in his throat.

Summary
Everything Changes in the time it takes for Dick to pick up the phone.
Jason had been tortured by the Joker.
Dick runs back to Gotham, back in the city he grew up in to help his family heal.
And to make thing worse someone is following him.
“You didn’t come home last night.”
Dick jumps at the voice, nearly dropping the juice, surprised to see Bruce standing in the kitchen staring at him with a furrowed brow.
“Hey B.” Dick greets, setting the juice on the counter. “Are you okay? You’re not normally up yet?”
“Why didn’t you come home last night?” Bruce repeats, ignoring Dick’s question. “Did something happen?”
Dick opens his mouth, about to tell Bruce all about his run in with Tim, to ask if he’d heard anything about the Drakes recently. Then he takes a good look at Bruce and the question dies in his throat.
Dark circles carved deep into his face, scruffy unshaven face, gaunt cheeks, and worry clear in his dull eyes. Bruce had been worried about Dick, worried another son had just disappeared without a word. The guilt felt like it could swallow him whole.
“Patrol ran late.” Dick lies. “I ended up crashing at one of the safe houses.”

He'd also lived through a war on another planet, getting quite literally dusted out of existence, and then coming back to fight yet another war. And more, he'd lived through a betrayal of someone he trusted with his life, and lived through death threats, bricks thrown at his windows, temporary homelessness, and villains coming from different dimensions with the sole intention to kill him.
He'd lived through it all.
Until one day, he didn't.
