They sound boring at first, but when you reincarnate into a fantasy world in a nation where windmills are the most advanced machines there is, you pretty much have the knowledge to kickstart Mondstadt's industrial revolution.
Especially with a System at hand that didn't follow conventional, pop-culture design.
But, ah, he would've had a more peaceful life if the city wasn't being harassed by the Abyss Order every now and then.
Sure, Mondstadt has magic. Potions. Spellcraft. Vision users. But he could argue that guns are cooler. Point. Shoot. Boom! Someone like Jean can beat a hilichurl into a pulp easy with some magic tricks, but ordinary knights got the short end of the stick.
What would cost them muscle sores and wrist problems killing a hilichurl, he could do with one trigger pull. No need for swords!
But yeah, weapons development isn't a smooth road.
