And again, he wasn’t supposed to watch it. He wasn’t supposed to watch anything in the first place, doctor’s orders, but it was just too compelling not to get hooked on it right away. He feels – kind of sentimental, sometimes. Not exactly nostalgic, only a bit hazy, soft around the edges in a way he’s not supposed to be when he looks at himself practically wagging his tail around his childhood hero. Now, though, he’s ended up on Valentino’s Instagram, and he’s regretting every single choice he’s made in his life since kindergarten because…well.
He’s gotten hard. Joke’s on him.
And it’s not about the whole ordeal of getting hard for Valentino, per se, which wouldn’t even be that new, but rather for something even more terrible and unprecedented: he’s gotten hard for Valentino and Francesca. Francesca as in the mother of Valentino’s children. Which is – surprising, to say the least, given that he’s always found her rather ugly, too tall and ungraceful, with hands as big as shovels and feet that could fill out Marc’s racing boots.
(maybe he’s just being petty. She’s a model. She can’t be that ugly)Instead of sleeping, Marc jerks off to a couple's photoshoot between Francesca and Valentino.

‘Do you believe you can?’ Valentino looks at Marc. The man meets back his gaze – again those dark eyes that look almost black in the shadows cast by the bulbs – and his smile wavers. Valentino nudges him. ‘Come on, no bullshit, Márquez. No PR, I’m not Nick Harris. Tell it to me straight – do you think you can win?’
Marc’s eyes hold that depth, that edge, again. It’s like for a moment they look so much sharper than they used to. The soft, rounded features are gone and his face is suddenly all angles, like a knife being tilted a multitude of different ways to mimic a human face. Even his lips appear to be one blunt razor.
‘Yeah,’ Marc murmurs. His gaze is locked with Valentino’s, and he nods. ‘Yeah, I think I can.’
