Summary
The island where Hail Mary Lighthouse was located was pretty barren, if you could even count it as an island.
It was more rock than anything, with a big enough beach for some lesser sized vessels to dock into. It didn’t host any plant life and the marine life around it amounted to flocks of seabirds and the irregular seal. Nothing much of note for a few thousand kilometers of distance from the mainland.
So, you could understand Grace’s surprise when he found such an unusual animal laying sideways on the sand.

An itch that turns to something more troubling when a stranger in need of help shows up in his dome and starts to stir all sorts of conflicting feelings under his skin.

“I’m serious.”
Grace can’t help himself.
“Nice to meet you, Serious. I’m Dr. Ryland Grace. Um- but everyone around here calls me Grace."
Silence.
“That’s your cue to tell me your name,” he notes.
The continued silence is deafening. Wide shoulders heave with heavy breath, that dark gaze tightening at Grace’s further insistence. Greasy, inky hair falls around his face, unruly tendrils shielding scarred skin from the outside.

Halfway back to Erid, the Hail Mary receives her third and final passenger.
