Before they gave him any say in the matter. In which inheritance ferments into grief, and no vintage survives the blood beneath it.

“Room for one more?” Vi asks, pulling a bottle from the satchel at her side, half empty, amber liquid sparkling golden in the low light, like the rooftops below them. She hands it to him before he can protest, goes to rummage around the satchel again to fish out a dented cup and its matching straw.
How she even pulled it from the rubble of the Last Drop Ekko’ll never know, but he knows he loves her so much in that moment it makes him dizzy, loves her in that way he hasn’t since they were children, since the last time she took a punch aimed at him.

Oikawa’s no good with being cooped up inside all day, resting and doing whatever it is that healing people do. So what if his last fight got a little more vicious than it had to? He’s still alive, is he not? It’s bad enough he had no choice in getting bandaged and locked inside his own room like a petty criminal instead of the noble he is for the first week, why does he have to stay?
Nevermind that he’s pretty sure the only reason he’s still standing in the first place is stubborness alone, and he knows he almost busted a few of his stitches rolling out of bed the way he did ― Oikawa can’t stay put. He―
He doesn’t know how.
“Tooru.” Iwaizumi calls, and he sounds unbearably soft, softer than Iwaizumi ever should sound. “Come here.”

There has always been some kind of strange energy between them. A tension that is so tangible that it sometimes feels as though he can touch it. They’re drawn to each other, like magnets, even when they couldn’t be any more different. Polar opposites.

Summary
It’s something like this; You are an ancient, arcane god. You are the sky itself. You are in love with the sea. You can’t remember any of this, but that’s okay because it doesn’t really matter anymore who you were or who you loved because right now you are Oikawa Tooru and you are in love with Iwaizumi Hajime. Theoretically, there should be nothing wrong with this, except that Iwaizumi Hajime seems to be mourning someone who no longer exists.

Iwaoi magic AU!!
" Tooru meets Iwaizumi Hajime on a blustery summer night he has no business being out in.
It’s windy, enough to push a tiny Tooru off his feet, and he doesn’t know enough wind magic to tame it. Instead, he digs his feet into the ground and shoves his way into his backyard. If he hurries, his mom might not notice that he’s snuck out past his bedtime to practice spellcasting.
“What’re you doing?”
A brash voice - one that very much does not belong to an Oikawa - interrupts his halfhearted attempts at conjuring a friendly spirit. "

"Anyway,” he continues, “we’re going to Matsu’s after this, right?”
He shares a look with Oikawa and Iwaizumi. They hadn’t talked about what they would be doing after dinner, but they all understood. Usually they have sleepovers at Oikawa’s or Iwaisumi’s, since their rooms are bigger and their parents are used to it, but today is different.

“You want me to freeze... what?” Sakusa asks, eyes narrowed.
“M’heart.”
“Really.”
Sakusa considers the situation. Yellow hair, so — the younger twin, Prince Miya Atsumu. If rumors are to be believed, he is the reckless one, the so-called gallant adventurer and breaker of hearts.
Interesting, to say the least.---
In which Sakusa, ice mage, accepts a surprising request from an unexpected client--and finds himself in for more than he bargained for.

“What are you trying to say Hajime?” Oikawa urges, holding his breath.
God, is this it? Is it happening now? Are they doing this right now? On the cardboard bed in Block 905 of the Olympic Village? Will he finally be fiancé of Iwaizumi Hajime (27) Athletic Trainer of the Japanese national volleyball team on the eleventh day of the Tokyo Olympics?
“I’m saying—I love you so much Tooru, I—”
The doorbell interrupts him mid-sentence and Oikawa whips his head in the direction of the offending sound.
Someone should tell Oikawa that this is only the first of a series of unfortunate events.
