lae'zel's diligence towards efficiency bites her in the ass through both finding out about shadowheart getting sick, and also taking it upon herself to get her back in fighting shape again. despite trying to take full responsibility of her recovery, the rest of the party are fighting tooth and nail to take care of her as well. shadowheart has to deal with being doted upon in order for them to get their healer back, but she has this nagging feeling that perhaps her companions have other motivations...

Summary
Avdol nearly dropped the phone from his hand.
“You want us to what?”
The old man’s voice was casual, as if he were asking Avdol to pick up his mail for him while he’s on vacation.
“Well, you’re staying with Polnareff for a while, right? The French countryside is the perfect place to keep a child for a while. Besides, you’re both stand users from birth, so I’m sure you’ll be able to understand her better than any old foster parents would. It’ll just be for a few months at the most, until the Foundation can find stand users who are also looking to adopt.”
Polnareff walked through the kitchen, carrying a basket piled high with laundry. “What does that old bastard want?”
Avdol lowered the phone and covered the receiver. Joseph was still talking, undoubtedly more arguments as to why he and Polnareff were the perfect people to stash this stand baby with. “He wants us to take care of an orphan baby stand user he found in Japan.”
Polnareff dropped the basket.
