Shane wrinkled his brow. "Don't call it an affair," he said, reflexively. "That makes it sound like we were cheating. And no, no comment."
"I will comment," Ilya said. "It is ridiculous."
"I'm sorry," Shane said, his brain just now catching up to the second half of the question. He really hated the word "affair." It had distracted him. Too much, apparently. "Did you say something about my stats?"

Or: Shane had no intention of giving the press any information about when he and Ilya started hooking up. Ever. It was so thoroughly nobody's business.

At midnight last night, an anonymous user dropped a link on Reddit that led to a folder with the content of 126 different iCloud accounts of celebrities. The contents vary depending on the celebrity, but most of them are photos, imessages, WhatsApp messages and e-mails.
Here’s the complete list of the celebrities affected by this leak…Shane couldn’t stop reading, searching frantically for his or Ilya’s name, until he reached the ‘S’ segment on the list, and there he was: Shane Hollander.

Summary

Instead, through the power of miscommunication, Shane and Ilya start dating in 2010. With better support, they make better decisions. Again, Ilya feels the shame flare in his belly. He imagines his father across the counter from them, watching this unfold. Watching Ilya be babied by his fucking boyfriend over an injury. He remembered how he’d yell at his mother for babying Ilya, the word soft being thrown around a lot.
But Ilya likes being babied. He likes watching Shane fuss and frown as he portions out the pills, filling a glass with Ilya’s favorite juice to wash them down with, then bustling up and back down the stairs with Ilya’s favorite pillow and the sleep mask he keeps in his travel bag for planes and hotels.
He is soft. Weak too, probably. His father’s voice spits through his thoughts, sharp and disgusted. Ilya feels them settle on his shoulders, tug at his spine.
“You okay?” Shane asks, hair messy from the shower, Ilya’s pillow against his chest.
His father’s voice fades.
“Yes, moya lyubov. I am okay.”
