Summary
2 months post-lawsuit, Buck is still outcast and ignored, forever Man Behind. Isolated and feeling unwanted, he takes the chief up on an offer, one that will hopefully change how his life is going. He leaves the firehouse one last gift before making his departure, hoping to soften some of the hate he feels aimed his way.
When Eddie finds out, he breaks down, realizing just how badly Buck had been hurt.

"Hey guys, this is my boyfriend!" Buck said, and he watched all their faces go slack in shock, which was weird but Buck just barreled past it, "His name is-"
"Tommy?!" Chim sputtered out.
Ok, apparently they'd met. Buck turned to his boyfriend to see an equally shocked look on his face.
"Uh, hey guys." Tommy said, still sounding a bit shocked, before he turned back to Buck, "You didn't say you were at the 118."

Or the one where Buck was already dating Tommy by the time he joins the 118 in season 1, so the firefam gets to hear all about his 'hot pilot boyfriend' but it isn't until Buck finally introduces him that they realize they already know him.

Summary
After the "incident in the kitchen" at the end of season 8, Buck has to come to terms with Eddie's growing abusive tendencies over the years, the fact that they increase in the face of Eddie's grief over Bobby's death, and the fact that the 118 is no longer Buck's home. Along the way, he figures out what he wants home and family to truly mean, with some help from Tommy, Ravi, Athena, and the Deluca family.
