Regulus draws the fabric tighter around his shoulders. “There is no need. I am fine.”
Oh, and James knows that tone all too well. Sirius shares this mulish stubbornness. He knows he could argue himself bluer than Regulus’s lips and not win this argument, so he does not bother to try.
James crosses the small space to where the prince is curled against the cave wall and drops down beside him.
“What do you think you are doing?” Regulus demands in a squeak that’s not very princely.
“Saving your life.”

Until Regulus Black.
He's the one to rob James of everything he knows, including his heart when he leaves their onsetting romance behind without a notice, abandoning James destined to a life of chasing traces of him in strangers' beds, in a forever hunt for black curls, sharp features, green eyes, and a feeling he'll never get back.
Two years later, Regulus is back to, presumably, destroy James' life some more. James' yearning heart and soul may very well let him.

When Regulus falls for James, the immensity of his feelings scares him off all the way to another country. Upon returning, he finds James cycling through people who all have one thing in common; they all look like Regulus.
This forces Regulus to face his mistakes, and to find a way to fix them.
Of course, he goes about this the very worst way possible, with too little talking and too much accidental sex.

Apoptosis- Form of cell death, also known as programmed cell death, in which a ‘suicide’ program is activated within the cell. It is a normal phenomenon, occurring frequently in a multicellular organism.
For all intents and purposes, the Lazarus Pit works. It brings Jason Todd back to life, back to sanity. It stitches together old wounds and grants a second chance to Gotham's Red Hood. The only side effects are temporary catatonia, then equally temporary insanity. The Lazarus Pit works perfectly.
Then, it doesn't.
