Summary
{ Set in 1939 California } - Life wasn’t easy for Japanese Americans in this time. Alfred met Kiku with a black eye for the first time, for simply trying to do a good deed. Kiku wasn’t a stranger to this treatment, he’d been yelled slurs and even physically assaulted for his ethnicity. Kiku and Alfred actually had a lot in common, almost as if they were the same soul put in two different bodies. However, Kiku’s life was harder than Alfred’s for one reason, his heritage.
