Summary

Summary
Twenty years ago, Stiles Stilinski accidentally set a pencil on fire during math class and got dragged to the Hale House for Spark training.
Unfortunately, the Hale family kept him.
Now thirty years old, Stiles is one of the most terrifying emissaries in supernatural California. Derek Hale is Alpha of the Hale Pack and CEO of Hale Enterprises. Apparently, they’ve been emotionally married since approximately 2008.
Honestly, Stiles would like it noted that none of this was his fault. Not the years of movie nights, the orange slices, the forehead kisses, the domesticity, or the fact that Derek apparently courted him using romance scenes from Jonathan Hale’s bestselling detective novels.
In Stiles’s defense, Derek Hale was obviously straight, out of his league, and definitely not looking at him like a Victorian widow seeing sunlight again. Unfortunately for Stiles, literally everyone else noticed years ago.

“You’re back,” he said, sounding as surprised as he looked. “I didn’t think you would be.”
“Why not?” Stiles asked, confused and still half-asleep. He yawned as he rubbed both hands across his face again, and then froze at the next words out of Jeremy’s mouth.
“I figured you’d spend the weekend with your boyfriend.”
His what?
“My what?” he asked aloud.
“Your boyfriend,” Jeremy said, tilting his head slightly in confusion. “The angry, overprotective dude who came to get you? You could’ve just told us it was your boyfriend you know, you didn’t have to give us the song and dance ‘he’s my dad’s deputy’ routine. I kind of figured out you were lying about that in first year when you moved in with him for the summer.”
Stiles stared at him, completely flabbergasted about this entire situation.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”

Summary
Derek is hyperaware of every place he and Stiles are touching. Their fingers interlaced, the softness of Stiles’ skin, the coolness of it against Derek’s warmth.
He worries that if he moves his hand in the slightest, twitches his fingers accidentally, Stiles will move away, or judge him or make fun of him or see that Derek’s not really an alpha at his core, that he stole the role without earning it, that he’s really just a scared puppy underneath that cannot handle a simple touch, of all things.
Or, five times Derek struggles with touch, and one time he gives it freely.
