Zoro skims the rest — tall, Caucasian, healthy and a cook by trade.

He didn't realize it in time, and it wouldn't have helped anyway. It seems that when Mihawk wants something, he gets it, regardless of the dirty methods he has to use. Zoro was special: strong, determined, and arrogant. The kind of person Mihawk would want to keep by his side, someone he'd let into his castle and have fulfill his demands. But there would always be a price to pay. And if, in exchange for making him strong, Mihawk had to take the boy's life... Well, he'd better be damned if he let that opportunity slip by. He wanted the swordsman for himself alone; he wouldn't let anyone else have a chance.
Also...
I was in the mood for an alpha/alpha dynamic with a conversion. Mihawk manipulating his pheromones to force a change in Zoro and thus gain a very particular Omega with violent tendencies. It's more porn than anything else, but hey, it does have a bit of a plot.
