Why is Jecka and Nicole the Most Popular Class of '09 Ship? by Zoop Top (Rolex)
Fandoms: Class of '09 (Visual Novel)

Summary
A vague essay analyzing why Jecka and Nicole from Class of '09 is the most popular ship among the rest of the pairings. Analysis heavily references sarehptar's/Echodrops's fandom essay, and also breaks down canon interactions and events among all the characters mentioned. This analysis also infers why the pairing with no canon romantic subplot (or confirmation) has such a big presence over the canon pairing (Ari and Nicole) and the confirmed romantic interest (Emily).

Summary
Nicole wasn't much of a crier. She can't even remember the last time she ever did before she numbed herself out from the rest of the world.
It's not like it matters. Crying was for pussies anyway. Fuck that.
The only tears she knew of were tears of flesh.

This is a contract. Their friendship is a contract. She’ll destroy it first before everything good about it gets pulled away from her.
Jecka won’t let her.
If Nicole sees their friendship as a convenience, then fine.

Summary
Nicole didn't think she'd make it past 18, or even 21. But after living in LA for over a decade with Jecka, she was now working as a bartender in her late 20s. Moving to California was definitely for the best. No more pedophile teachers, no more shitty mom pretending to care then threatening her every five minutes, and no chance of running into old high school classmates.
Wait, why are Kelly and Ari here? And why do they think Nicole and Jecka aren't just roommates?

Literally everything I wanted to read from a Citrus fic and more ❤️
Inspiration-booster for current project (Citrus multi-chapter fic) I'm working on. I absolutely love the attention to detail to Mei's toxic mindset for feeling like she "needs" to satisfy Yuzu rather than allowing herself to be intimate with Yuzu because she wants to. Please read this guys, we need more fics that tackle this issue ^^
Read it again and this is one of those fics I’d print a hard copy of to preserve until the end of time.

Why Do Non-Canon Ships Become So Popular? (And Why Should Writers Rethink When They Do?) by sarehptar

Summary
A vaguely academic examination of the phenomena behind fandom shipping and why certain non-canon ships become exceedingly popular, far overshadowing the popularity of canon ships. This essay touches on common mistakes writers make with female characters and romantic subplots, and suggests a explanation for the enduring popularity of so many m/m ships which have no chance at all of becoming canon. Examples are drawn from Avatar the Last Air Bender, Voltron Legendary Defender (god help me), and My Hero Academia.

Bookmarker's Notes
An interesting essay that analyzes fandom’s typical gravitation towards non-canon ships. It also gives some insight on how a pairing can be written to have more people care about it in the same way the author does.

An absolute gem
Smut is 12/10, sinfully delicious. 12/10 would read again ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Read it again years after being away from Citrus, and it feels like coming back to an old friend. SMX's Citrus fics always hit in the right places, and reading it again definitely felt like the first time it was posted. Even though it's an AU, the dynamic is still very much the same Yuzu and Mei from the original manga.

Summary
Yeonjin can admit that, in part, this is her fault. She knows she shouldn’t have kissed Dongeun, but she was pissed as hell, and she’d had the same burst of manic confidence she always has when she’s mad. Now as a consequence, Dongeun is being a coward bitch and avoiding her all the time, and Yeonjin feels like her heart is pumping pure anger through every one of her veins and arteries.
All that fucking kiss did was make things worse for herself, because now Yeonjin knows how good Dongeun’s mouth taste and how soft her skin feels and how pretty she sounds when she’s breathless and needy.
It’s driving her insane.
(Or; canon divergence au where Yeonjin is still a bad person and Dongeun still hates her guts, but they also feel crazily and inexplicably attracted to each other.)

Bookmarker's Notes
It’s problematic, I know. But I actually don’t care because the author wrote the dynamic pretty well in a canon-divergent setting while still maintaining the characters’ personalities.
I’d have half a mind bookmarking this main, but I got massive brain damage reading comments on another fic for another fandom debating about a character’s toxicity. So, if you want actual toxic yuri that’s not too divorced from the source material…just read this.
