Given a second chance at immortal life, Magnus returns to New York only to discover that, despite the seemingly fleeting moments he’d spent in death, decades have passed in the mortal realm and the love of his life is gone. Summary
No one quite knew when evolution diverged or why only those a part of the Shadow World could be “reborn.” All anyone knew was someone with mundane blood could have more than one soul. Not a regular mundane mind you. They never were reborn. Only someone with a mix of something else could one day realize they were part of something greater.
Downworlders found this strange phenomenon to be a miracle. Even the Fey who never experienced this unique experience were in awe of those who were able to experience the same day in numerous ways. They were respected in the Downworlder society and known as Sensate. When ‘reborn’ they are able to connect with one another, share knowledge, skills, and if need be, bodies. They resonated on a unique frequency that bound them to one another. They were soulmates in the literal sense of the word and were never alone again.
There were few that saw them as unnatural. They feared them. They hid in the shadows waiting to strike. Others feared the day that it would happen. They prayed that they would never wake up and find they share a soul with several other people.
Thus begins the journey of Alec who finds himself risking anything for his Sensate Parabatai…
