Boston University.
Shane Hollander: Junior, 21, player for the Boston University Terriers, and majoring in Human Physiology.
Ilya Rozanov: Junior, 21, player for the Boston University Terriers, and majoring in finance.
Shane and Ilya work well together on the ice, but there is no confusion that they aren't fans of each other. Shane is constantly fed up with Ilya showing up late and not taking things as seriously as him. Ilya likes to tease him, but he always puts his all in during games. It’s been like this since they started two and half year ago.
Midway through the fall semester, Ilya takes a bad hit and is taken off the ice during the game. Shane comes up with an unorthodox solution to fulfill Ilya's physical needs while he recovers, and Shane's academic needs for extra credit.

The Boston Raiders take Ilya to the Fort Worth Stockyards for Price’s birthday, where he discovers chaps and immediately becomes convinced they were invented for fucking. The team insists they’re for riding horses, but Ilya remains deeply skeptical. Naturally, he buys a pair and ships them to his favorite Canadian captain—because if they’re really for riding, Shane Hollander should have no problem putting them to good use.

“You know what they say, kotenok.”“What?” Shane asks between breaths.
Ilya tilts the brim down slightly.
“Something about if you take a man’s hat…” he says lazily. “He belongs to you.”
Then he looks up at Shane again.
And for a moment he just stares.
And the stupid thing is… it’s true.
Ilya belongs to him. Completely.
Not just tonight. Not just here in this ridiculous moment with the cowboy hat and the leather chaps and Shane flushed and breathless in his lap.
Always. Since the very beginning.
Since the first day Shane found him standing alone out in the parking lot. Awkward. Stubborn. Pretending he didn’t need anyone.

“You know,” Ilya adds, like he’s continuing a casual thought, “Hotel was good idea. It’s warm, no ice, no… audience.”
Shane’s grip tightens on the strap of his bag, but he still doesn’t respond. He keeps skating, eyes fixed ahead, pretending the words don’t land even as heat crawls back up his neck.
“But no,” he continues, clearly enjoying himself. “You choose rink, very bold.”
“Fuck off,” Shane exhales through his nose.
Ilya keeps talking as they slow near the boards, skating lazy circles around Shane like he has nowhere else to be. “Next time,” he says mildly, like he’s already planned it, “We use a hotel. I promise, much less… scandal.”
