Sunny stood on the roof overlooking the hospital grounds, the wind rustling his messy hair and his hospital gown. His friends deserve the truth, and the chance to move on. Sunny would go, and take the escapism, the bed sores, and HEADSPACE with him.
Instead of dying, he wakes up four years earlier, and this time he manages to shield Mari from the fall, ending up in a coma for four years himself. When he wakes up, he finds a world where Mari has closed herself within her own HEADSPACE, plagued by the same kind of guilt and grief he'd become familiar with. The new timeline was more different than Sunny could've ever imagined, and he'd have to navigate the broken bonds between his friends all over again if he wanted to finally make a future where the group could be complete.

If Kaneki was certain of anything, it was that he knew his life was a tragedy.
He knew fate was cruel to people who were kind, ghouls were unforgiving, and that all the detriments in this world stemmed from a lack of his individual ability. Kaneki could count the number of people he trusted on one hand, and he knew he needed to protect each and every single one of them at all costs, even if it meant taking the more... Consequentialist approach.
That's about all he's sure of.
What Kaneki's not so sure of, however, is why he still sees ghosts of the souls that should be dead and gone, why their memories have begun to slip through the cracks of his mind, where the line between right and wrong is supposed to be drawn anymore, and why the darkest voice in his head... is his own.
AU where Kaneki gains the memories and abilities of other ghouls, and things play out a little bit differently. Enjoy~

Summary
Ken Kaneki was not some complex character from a professionally written and edited novel or manga. He was just some loser who got killed by a monster.
But, he’d like to think that if he wrote a story about himself-
It would be a tragedy.
He was content that this would be his ending as he craned his head up to the night sky.
Instead of some symbolic moon or stars to represent a return to nature or childhood, his vision swam, and all he could see was a line of stitches.
