Summary
There's a well-known saying that when you truly love something, you should let it go free, as genuine affection requires such selflessness. In this moment, however, that precious "something" was not just an idea or a passing passion; it was a person—a vibrant soul who had woven themselves into the very fabric of my existence. Their laughter echoed brightly in my memories, and their eyes sparkled with the dreams we had shared.
Despite the swirl of emotions urging me to release them back into a world that felt too vast and indifferent, they didn’t want to be set loose into the unknown. Their heart was tethered to mine with an invisible thread that bound us even tighter. I knew that if I allowed them to stay in my life, they would inevitably face danger and potential harm.
Understanding the risks that loomed ahead, I made the difficult choice to let them go. My stomach twisted with the knowledge that it was the right thing to do, even if it meant breaking my own heart in the process.
