What he was not familiar with was shattered light bulbs and feelings of dread so intense he could only think of it similar to what he had felt in the field last year. Not from nightmares. Except he wasn't quite frozen. It felt almost like being beckoned closer, and he wasn't sure he knew if he could resist.

When Will Byers came back from the Upside Down, everyone thought that Mike Wheeler started courting him. How else can you explain the boy constantly scenting his best friend, or being so clingy or protective? After Will discovers that Mike is dating El, Will turns in on himself. His health deteriorates, and eventually, Mike's Alpha nature kicks back into gear to protect the boy that he once treated as his Omega.
But what if it takes forever to Mike to figure things out? Where would that leave Will? And, worse, if it's already negatively impacted his health once, what if it does again?

Will’s breath hitched. His heart hammered against the vine coiled over his chest.
He leaned in, voice almost tender. “Come with me. Stand by my side. You and I…together.”
Will stared at him, stunned “What?” The word came out flat, disbelieving. “I don't understand. Why would you abandon your plans for that?”
Vecna’s mouth twitched in dark amusement.
“Because I want you.” He leaned in closer. “I am offering you a life. My world. My throne.” His voice dipped. “My side. My hand. I want you to belong to me in every way a person can belong to another.”
What if Vecna had given Will another choice to save his friends? A rework of Will's coming out scene with a smaller audience and Byler endgame.
