“Keith! Wait!”
“No.” Keith didn’t seem surprised by Lance having followed him, not turning back to look at him as he continued to barrel down the hallway.
“Hey, come on! I’m not here to make fun of you I swear.”
“Right,” Keith scoffed. His pace picked up, though Lance had no trouble matching it and came up beside him.
“I actually… Well I was really flattered. I wanted to um, thank you.”
Keith slowed, then, turning halfway to look at Lance with a skeptical squint.
“If this is a joke, it’s not funny.”

"Keith. Let's break this down. You would like to go on a date with me, yeah? I'd like to go on a date with you. So… weee…?" He leaves it hanging, gestures back and forth with his other hand between them, waiting for Keith to finish the sentence.
"... We like each other," Keith says. Lance smiles at that and it's really almost too much to handle. It's a giddy kind of look and Keith just has to be absolutely certain.
"Romantically, right?"--
In which Keith and Lance are both idiots who don’t know how to have the same conversation, and Lance really really wants a smooch.

“Kaoru, this is way too expensive. I’m not—” He cuts himself off to gently push the knife set back towards Kaoru. “I can’t take this for free.”
Kaoru’s eyes narrow, and if Kojiro didn’t know better, he would almost call the other’s gaze calculating. “So you don’t like this?”
“It’s… a great set,” Kojiro says carefully, unsure what Kaoru’s asking. “But I’m feeling like too much of a freeloader if you’re just…” He gestures vaguely. “You know.”
Kaoru’s gaze turns contemplative. “Hm,” he says, before nudging the knife set towards Kojiro again. “Then, I’ll stop with this. Just take this one, at least.”
They stare at each other for a few moments after, daring each other to break away first, until finally Kojiro closes his eyes with a sigh. “Alright, Kaoru. This is the last time, though, okay?”
“Fine,” Kaoru mumbles, and when he leaves Sia la Luce that day, he looks somewhat annoyed—or, at least, more annoyed than usual.

Kaoru wasn’t stupid. He knew Kojiro was a good chef, of course he did. It wasn’t just anyone who could open a thriving Italian restaurant in Okinawa, and certainly not Kaoru—no, he’d probably burn the place down the second he turned the stove on.
But still. Still.
How the fuck can Kojiro make coffee taste so good?
“Well?” Kojiro presses. “How is it?”
Kaoru doesn’t deign to answer, instead taking another sip from the cup. The flavor sinks through him, his shoulders automatically relaxing, any lingering stress seeping away from his bones, and his eyes slip closed.
God, I could marry him, Kaoru thinks.
Then, he thinks, what the FUCK.
