Jaina looks up to find none other than Sylvanas Windrunner peering down at her with newly blue eyes. Well, somewhat newly blue. She spent at least four, maybe even close to five years in the Maw with them—until the somewhat contemptible decision was made to release her from her punishment there so that she might help in the battle against the Void. Jaina, of course, had been one of the many detractors holding out against said release.
But now she finds herself with an amused smile on her lips as Sylvanas returns it. Except hers is more than that. She grins like a cat who’s finally caught the canary—fangs and all.
It’s only been more than twenty years since she’s last caught Jaina, for all of her newfound feathers.
“Well, well,” Sylvanas says. “What do we have here?”

“It’s a sex resort,” Sylvanas corrected, the buckles of their bags still slung over her shoulder jingling as she stepped behind Jaina to be greeted by the same view she was taking in. “There’s a hot spring, massage parlor, restaurant. You know, all of those sort of things.”

Jaina wants to assure her she didn't come to stare at her like she's some sabercat in a cage—teeth dulled on the bars, roar hoarse and failing. Only she realizes now that this is exactly why she's come. A wave of shame threatens to crash over her, but she dismisses it. She came to deliver Veressa’s letter, and to banish the notion that Sylvanas Windrunner truly was a stranger to her.
Staring at Sylvanas, waiting for her to rattle the bars of her would be cage, would do neither of those things for her.

Kael'thas opened his mouth to object, but another voice offered its own opinion instead.
“Oh, I can shoot well enough,” the human rose from her seat as she offered...in perfect Thalassian. “And I do not think that me understanding you will be a problem.”

So instead of trying to commiserate, Jaina asks a question, “What will you do now?”
Sylvanas stares at her, the answer written plain on her face. There is no will. No future tense. There was only ever Arthas and seeing his end. And here she is, impotent and smaller for it. A woman without a mission. Jump is her answer, but now Jaina is here, threatening to catch her.
So instead, Sylvanas replies, “I don’t know.”
AKA Jaina interrupts Sylvanas before the events of Edge of Night, and also we ignore the novel re-write of this scene that doesn't make any sense. Also it's gay if you squint.
