Summary
“It means nothing,” Mizi says amicably, her face betraying no obvious motive other than plain curiosity. “I just think it’s really interesting how the birthday lady finds it hard to admit she doesn’t like her gifts.”
“…pardon?”
“I mean that I can keep a secret or two,” the princess elaborates casually, pushing herself off the wall. Her chartreuse eyes give Sua another onceover that feels weirdly invasive. “You can admit you don’t like it that your mom is marrying you off.”
(or: Sua of House Yoon finds herself in an arrangement she has no desire to see through, but all it takes is one woman to unravel her world and all she has ever known.)

Summary
A winterberry stem sat poised in Enid’s hand as she regarded Wednesday. “I like making things—I used to. Wreaths are just versions I can do while also being useful.”
Wednesday heard the tense. “What did you make before?”
Enid lowered her gaze. “Drawings. Mostly. Illustrations.”
“Of what?”
“Animals. Forests. Storybook stuff. Nothing serious.”
“Seriousness and value have a poor correlation.”
For a second, Enid offered nothing. Then, she said, so quietly it surprised her, “You can see them some time. If you want.”
“I do.”
“No hesitation at all?”
“I see no benefit feigning indifference.”

Staying a quarter-mile from the Sinclair Christmas tree farm wasn’t how Wednesday imagined her winter.
But some plans are best ruined by a blizzard, a shared bed, and someone worth making new ones with.

Summary
“What’s she like?”
Alicent sighs. “I do not know. We were friends many years ago.”
At least, Alicent likes to think they were friends. But the princess was always sporadic with her attentions— quick to grow bored of things, discarding the old in favor of the new. Alicent supposes that’s what happened to her, as well. She had written letters, those first few moons after she returned to Oldtown.
The princess never responded.
The king is seeking a husband for his omega daughter, so countless lords send their sons to vie for the hand of the future queen.
Alicent is not a son. She is not a knight. Her presentation was surely a mistake, one that’s cost her everything. Now she is her brother’s squire, accompanying him to King’s Landing as he competes for the princess's hand.

Summary
“For a second there, I thought you were going to curse me.”
Wednesday huffs a laugh as she takes what looks like angelica root and barley, twisting the plants together before looking through a large bag under the workbench and fishing out a handful of thin, bleached animal bones. “You’re funny. Inflicting a curse takes significantly less effort than an illuminating spell.”
Enid finds a witch in the woods.
