"As she entered her office, she had a sneaking suspicion that Ron was up to something when she saw several red envelopes on her desk.
It had been one day since she left him. One day, and she was already getting howlers from Ron and Molly Weasley.
Ron was incensed about her leaving because, “How dare you leave without telling me!” and “Why didn’t you ever say anything to me?” and “I thought we were so good together!” A whinging howler.
Ugh. Really, Ron? Don’t you ever listen?
Those howlers she could deal with. It was the ones from Molly that came to her office that were the worst. Oh no, Molly couldn’t have sent them to her flat. She just had to let everyone know that “Hermione Granger was a floozy and a cheater,” and “a no-good girlfriend that only thought of herself and no one else.” It wasn’t even original, to be honest.
No one else had given more of themselves to Ron in the past two and a half years. No one but Hermione."
But now Hermione has finally stopped doubting herself and stepped out on her own. Having done so has gained her a couple of "new" friends as well as brought some old ones closer. She's awakened a new self.

Six years after the war ended, the wizarding world looks much different than it did before. Old enemies have been forgiven, new alliances have been made, and unlikely friendships have formed. Auror partners Harry and Draco, and Ron and Theo, are given a new case; mysterious murders of Muggles by magic. Hermione, who works in the Muggle Liaison Office, joins the investigation. Working with her best friends should be fun, not awkward. But an innocent hookup at one of their weekly Friday night parties might spice things up a bit.

As she looked around her living room - at the green velvet ottoman she didn't remember purchasing, the 14th century Wizarding texts on her bookshelf, the hideous and obnoxiously ostentatious grandfather clock that could only belong to a Malfoy - she pictured the toothbrush next to hers on her bathroom counter, the old Slytherin quidditch jersey she regularly tripped over in her bedroom, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream in her freezer - a flavour she abhorred, but that a particular, pale, pointy faced aristocrat sat across from her had a tragic fondness for.
Her chest burning, as if she drank a barrel of bubotuber pus, Hermione turned to him with narrowed, accusing eyes. "Malfoy...are we dating?"
If there's one thing Hermione Granger knows, it's that she simply doesn't have time to date. Draco decides to date her, anyway.
