To his own horror, Thorin felt his face get hot. “It’s practical! Not like reading Robert Browning for an hour and then droning on about whatever line in ‘My Last Duchess’!”
A college!au where Bilbo is a peer writing tutor, Thorin hates English courses, their friends love to meddle, and a Middlearth College (no, for the last time, we’re not Middlebury) liberal arts education destroys everyone’s mental well-being. The only way to get by is with coffee and pipe-weed.

At some point Hermann’s hand had migrated to the peak of his back, and Newt focused on the feeling of each thin fingertip like an anchor on his skin. After several minutes, Hermann spoke.
“I’ll be honest,” he said, voice calm in a way Newt didn’t know whether to believe or not, “this wasn’t how I expected us to meet again.”
Newt managed a dry half-chuckle. “No fucking kidding.”
When an accident (please, God, don't ask) sets Newt free from the Precursors without warning, there's clearly only one thing to do: find Hermann, get his (???) life together (to like, a point), and pretend none of this shit ever happened. Oh, and make sure nobody ever finds out about the whole possession thing. It's cool. He's cool. Newt's coping.

Summary
The Battle of the Five Armies had been won, the Line of Durin preserved in hard-won life. Contract spent, resident burglar Bilbo Baggins entirely intends to return to the Shire and prove to half of Hobbiton that he is, indeed, still alive.
He has only one problem: Dwalin, Thorin's newly-hailed Captain of the Guard, won't stop following him around for some reason. His next problem emerges when he realises that Dwalin won't let him leave Erebor under any circumstance.

Summary
When they reach their majority, every hobbit is encouraged to carve or forge a spoon that would be their Love Spoon. It’s a very sacred process as no talking can be done during the crafting of the spoon. All of their energy must be concentrated on pouring their hopes and dreams for the future into their spoon. Reflecting especially on what type of spouse would compliment them most, what type of marriage they hope to have, and what vows they would make to honor and cherish them. The symbols etched into their spoon would showcase all of this so that way when their future spouse used it for the first time, they knew exactly what they were getting out of this marriage. And that’s it. Once someone has taken a bite from a dish prepared by the spoon’s owner, they are married in the eyes of the Shire. The act is reciprocated, and the lucky couple move in together in marital bliss.
Bilbo agonized over his spoon. A spoon no one ever seemed to want, and he had accepted his fate at no one ever eating from. Then a company of dwarves invaded his dining room, and their leader took a bite...

He only starts to overthink it when the dwarrow of the newly retaken Erebor can't seem to stop looking at him.

Summary
A classic Hobbit fix-it fic where everyone lives.
After surviving the journey, and then the dragon, and then the battle, Bilbo is faced with his most difficult challenge yet: getting that stubborn dwarf king Thorin Oakenshield to speak to him. Thorin nearly died in Bilbo's arms, but now it seems that the new king feels exactly the same about him as he did on the ramparts.
Meanwhile, Thorin can't bring himself to face the poor hobbit he has so terribly mistreated. He can't bear to look into the eyes of the only one he will ever love and know that Bilbo will never forgive him for what he has done.
But Bilbo didn't come this far to let some pigheaded dwarf send him back home without so much as a goodbye.Bookmarked by Ramriez
