He supposes that all of this is why they say never get involved with your coworkers (or your best friends). He tells himself that nobody can see on stage that anything's different between him and Harry. He tells himself that the reason he's so emotionally drained all day is because he's saving up all his energy for the shows so nobody can even question whether he’s okay. He tells himself that trying to avoid Harry at all costs is for the good of the band, not just for the sake of his head and heart. He tells himself that the songs he's been writing are about a fictional breakup rather than the very real fears bubbling in his mind.
Niall's not even sure if he can tell the truth anymore, to himself or anyone else.

"To be honest, I'd never even really considered it before him. I don't even know what I'd call it either. Maybe it's just him."
Louis rolls his eyes, snorting into his tea, "Please never tell him that. The last thing we need is him strutting around the place, gloating about how he made you Styles-sexual or some other stupid nonsense like that."
"Good point," Niall agrees, already picturing Harry's smirk, "He's cheesy enough with me as it is."
