Summary
In the power struggle of the Nilfgaardian court, nobles pour disdain on the fact that the Emperor has no heir, no mate. In a misguided attempt to protect their Emperor, the Impera induce a heat and breed their Emperor.
Bred against his will, Emhyr rails against his men, expecting violence in the face of what he sees as betrayal. However, his guards treat him with gentle reverence, self-policing and chiding the men who get too rough with their omega.
But the first breeding doesn't take.

Summary
Emhyr barely acknowledges his own weaker, omega nature.
They are soft, mewling creatures that cannot survive without the careful tending of a beta and the all-encompassing protection of an alpha. The omegas Emhyr meets are sweet, pampered things that have never known the bite of hunger or the sting of a blade's edge. He cannot relate to the simpering, perfumed creatures that share his designation.
He has resisted the pull of an alpha's attentions, the want for warmth, safety, comfort - He has grown up without all of these luxuries proclaimed as the necessities an omega must be given, lest they risk ill-health. Emhyr sees how the lords treat their omega mistresses, as pathetic, endearing pets that would pine themselves to death without an alpha's attention.
Emhyr is stronger than his omega brothers and sisters. Emhyr is not an omega that needs comfort and coddling. He is disciplined, he can control himself and that of his baser urges.

One, the weirdest thing that Ryland notices when he wakes up is that he smells like sugar cookies. He doesn't even know how to bake.
Two, the second weirdest thing is that when he orders take out, his DoorDasher leans in really close to his face and sniffs him. Which, okay, so he forgot to shower last night, is it such a crime? Sue him, whatever.
