“It’s like. You know,” Susie stumbled, “like if you need to figure out how to kiss or whatever and you got somebody to help you out—and that guy helps you get better at it, it’s like—you know!”
“I-I do?”
“Yeah,” she stressed, “you and Kris used to do it all the time!”

She showed up at Kris’s door with her hood up and her tail twitching, smelling like smoke that wasn’t hers. She had one of her mother’s old flannels tied around her waist, the sleeves long and dragging. Kris didn’t ask. Just stepped aside.
Toriel, from the kitchen, poked her head out and said only: “Shoes off, dear. I just mopped.”
Like Susie belonged there.
Like she wasn’t a guest anymore.
Kris gave her the couch and curled up on Chariel. Susie protested, at first—“It’s your damn house, dude,” she said, “I can sleep on the floor, I’ve done it before”—but Kris was already half-buried in blankets and completely silent, which meant the conversation was over.
At some point, when the house had gone completely quiet and the shadows settled, Susie whispered:
“Hey.”
Kris shifted their head to look at her.
The moonlight caught her hair, the jagged edge of her teeth. Her eyes were clearer than they ever were at school. No posturing. No sneer. Just Susie. Bare and real in a borrowed T-shirt, her knees pulled up, her voice a rasp.

The too-long glances. The hands resting too high on the back. The way he loomed protectively when other children got close to Kris at the park. The way Kris leaned into him even when they didn’t need to. The way they shared a blanket on the couch and didn’t shift when the other’s hand slipped under a shirt for warmth. All these little gestures a mother might ignore, if she wanted to believe the best.
But they were stacking now. They meant something. They had to.

Susie wheels around and they’re standing there. Slouched, hand on the side of their house like they’re about to fall over. Tired, corner of the mouth smirk on their face. Their voice is different, like Noelle was saying. It doesn’t have that stereo crawl under it. It’s a little sad, a little higher than lower, kinda scratchy. How Noelle had described their ‘normal voice.’
But something is strange. Their face, it’s untensed somehow.

She’s got these wide eyes. Not wide in the same way Noelle’s eyes are, those snowglobe round, innocent sweet ones that she has, no. Susie’s are big like the sunset sky, yellow like it too, horizon-wide, nightfall sharp. In the dark like this, they glow like embers, glint like amber.
Kris feels like a bug in her amber. Stuck, totally, in the same frozen state that they got captured in the first time she looked at them. It’s weird. So weird. But she’s weird, too, so that makes it cool. -

Words like "you're safe" and "I love you," like "I've got you" and "it's okay." Coming down from a meltdown is never easy, but it is so much easier with the lilting voice of a loving parter whispering reassurances into her ear, holding her so tightly it feels like she can finally breathe. Falling asleep with her two best friends is nothing she isn't used to, but it feels lovely every time, especially after feeling so vulnerable and recieving nothing but unwavering kindness and understanding in return.

Summary
Webby drags Lena out to the place they first met for some playful sword fighting by sunset. Which is SO not Lena's thing, except that it's Webby asking, and Webby maybe kinda knows by now how to weaponize a hopeful look.
Webby knows a lot less about all the things a sword fight with dull blades can be used to talk about, or finally admit to, or spill your heart out over, but that's fine. That's fun, actually!
Or, Webby worries about not saving Lena that first time, and Lena sets her straight (heh) on the matter.

Webby Vanderquack is an amateur stargazer who sneaks out of her house and through the supposedly supernatural Inkwoods of her town to chart the night sky. But when it seems like the myth of a shadow creature in the forest might not be a myth after all, tension is growing between her and her grandmother, and she struggles to figure out who she is, the answers she needs can't be found in the constellations she loves so much. She has to write them out for herself.

They always stop short, and it’s always Lena who does it. It happens when Webby is reeling and aching for more from a barrage of kisses and hickies, Lena’s hands on her body, Lena using her leg to push Webby’s own apart leaving Webby to anticipate some delightful sensation.
Which never happens.
Not like they’ve had many opportunities to go that far, having only recently reunited. But… this has been something that Webby has been looking forward to for a very long time and it doesn’t take long for her to notice the pattern.
There’s always an excuse ready. Lena has changed over the years but she’s still a smooth talker who basically knows all the right words to wrap Webby around her finger. But however she slices it, it’s still Webby, confused and disoriented on a bed, or a park bench, or against a wall of fused bones, wondering what happened while Lena casually straightens out her clothes while rattling off some reason or another to stop. All while wearing a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes.
