"Reachers keepers," he joked, cheek twitching with an apparent attempt to avoid smirking and inciting her ire.
Too late, ire incited. She stamped her foot, feeling extremely childish yet unable to stop herself. "Colin!"
Colin laughed affectionately, then reached up and plucked the egg from where it was wedged between branches.
Refusing to be beaten, Penelope grunted and stretched up on her toes, extending her arm as high as she could reach, trying to snatch the egg from his triumphant grasp, which was comically higher than her own. Colin kept his arm up and smiled down at her, eyes dancing with laughter. They stumbled back and forth, Penelope huffing as she reached, one hand on his shoulder to help her balance as she jumped, trying to ignore the way it felt as her body bumped against his, his hand lightly on her waist to stop her falling off to the side.
