This is a fix-it of sorts, but also an exploration of Victor, and I write him like the messy bitch he is so buckle in for unreliable narration, repression and denial, selfish empathy(?), and mommy issues.
There WILL be The Creature x Victor, and Victor does essentially raise him through the first bit of this fic, so if that squicks you out, get out now or open your mind to ineffable and immutable connections that transcend social concepts of relation, especially when one part of the relationship is only vaguely human.

“I was here the whole time, Adam. Right here.” Victor explained to him as he patted his bed for emphasis. “Now will you please let me rest just a little longer? I promise once I rest, we can go make supper.” He pleaded as Adam moved over to stand by the side of his bed. “Just a few minutes, goose. That’s all I ask.” Victor added, hoping that his creation understood. “Victor.” Adam replied and Victor decided to take that as a confirmation of understanding
So with a nod, Victor grabbed the blankets and threw them back over his head again, letting the darkness overtake him again. He had maybe three seconds of peace before once again. “Victor? Victor??” So much for understanding
TLDR: Adam doesn’t quite have a grasp on object permanence yet
