Summary
Even though they were driving through a mountainside road at 10 pm, headlights suddenly appeared behind them, it was so random — like they were waiting for the right moment.
Rumi’s eyes snapped into awareness, eyes glancing at the rearview mirror now that she learnt they were no longer alone — her hunter senses seemed to be tingling. Zoey looked up from her game as well because of the sudden brightness reflecting off the side view mirror.
“What’s their problem?” Rumi muttered under her breath, trying not to wake Mira. Her eyes stayed on the mirror, she could barely make out a figure in the driver’s seat — blinded by their bright headlights that left spots in her vision.
“They’re riding my ass” Rumi looked back at the closeness of the car.
“I could ride that ass” Zoey commented without looking up from her game, a smirk could be heard in her voice.

Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:
“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”

Summary
The longest tendril of purple on her body has made it down to her left elbow.
It’s a bit like an artery, branching out from her heart and creeping over her shoulder, crawling and crawling every day.
She hasn’t figured out if they feel like anything yet. Aside from the discoloration, everything is much the same. The patterns are just as warm and just as smooth as the rest of her; and when she shivers in the cold they rise up in goosebumps all the same.
She wonders if it will be different when the purple makes it past her knuckles to the tips of her fingers.
Will they become sharp?
OR: Rumi fixates on her (normal, human, perfect) hands.

Summary
When Rumi's rut came around, she would go on a "fishing trip" or take suppressants to dull the effects. Zoey said she was fine with it but deep down Rumi could feel the rejection, the inner sadness of a omega wondering why her alpha didn't want her ? It broke Rumi's heart and brought more shame at the idea of not being able to do her duties as a alpha.
Now she was in pre-rut, would have to get a large lunch and figure out what to do. She cursed not being more on top of her schedule.
Or Rumi is entering rut but struggles with sex, Zoey is more than happy to help, the only problem is this isn't a simple problem that sex can fix.
