Hugo doesn't remember a lot of his childhood. He has times where he just goes numb and can't remember anything and he feels like a puppet in his own body watching his life play out and trying to function and he can't form any kind of coherent thoughts and before he can blink it's been 2 weeks. But it hasn't happened in a while.

Varian always wore his gloves, and always wore long sleeves. In the middle of fucking summer.
Even Hugo had started wearing shorter sleeves as the weather heated up and showed a few scars on his arms, something he'd thankfully gotten no questions about.

Will laughs again. "You know, you can stay down here tonight. Walking up to your room on your leg probably isn't the safest idea anyway."
Mike looks back up the stairs one last time before looking at Will. Everything about this idea screams danger, even if Mike knows there's actually nothing to worry about. He and Will have shared a room countless times before. Hell, they've shared a bed before. It was when they were about eight years old, but that still counts. Will is offering up the objectively correct solution to his problem, and yet Mike wants to bolt up the stairs anyway.
