Vel shifts against her to brush calloused, warm fingers down Kleya’s cool cheek. “I’m yours, Kleya,” Vel whispers, sounding almost afraid. “If you ever want me.”
Her yearning look softens with sympathy, and she leans in to press a lingering kiss to the corner of Kleya’s mouth, right on the crinkle where she always anchors her smirk. It draws a broken, shaking exhale from Kleya.

“Kleya, you’ve been staring at your hands for ten minutes.”
Ten minutes? There’s no way that’s right. It was only a few seconds. She opens her mouth to say so, but nothing comes out. She frowns at herself. Why isn’t her body doing things? She’s never been this unintentionally still. She tries to move her hands. Nothing happens. She tries to extend a leg. Nothing happens.
In which Vel includes Kleya in a group activity. Kleya has a bad trip, and Vel takes care of her.

The happy ever after Vel and Kleya deserve after all the crap they’ve had to endure.
