"Some children are simply born with tragedy in their blood."

"What's our status?"Dr. Reider strutted into the room, slipping on sterile blue gloves with ease. He urgently checked the monitors, which were connected to a small child. Her body lay motionless on the table, arms and legs bound by restraints. Her pale skin contrasts with her dark brown hair, which is neatly tied in a single braid. Her chest rises with each shallow, irregular breath she takes.
"Subject #3 responded well to the first round of injections, became tachycardic after the second round of injections," another doctor explained as Dr. Reider examined the little girl.
"Very well," Dr. Reider said with a sigh. "Take her back to her room."
The guards unfastened the restraints and roughly pulled the girl off the table by her arms. They began to drag her down the hallway but were stopped by Dr. Reider's voice.
"Oh and grab the boy while you are at it."

Summary
She clutched the folder that Peter had given her tightly, its paper supple and yellowed. A photograph of a young girl, no older than sixteen, was clipped to the front. Its print was black-and-white, but she could see enough to know that the resemblance was there. The girl had short hair, cut above her shoulders, a slight wave to it, and if Natasha had to guess, it would burn a vibrant red. The girl’s expression was somber, her eyes downcast, cheeks hollow, colourless. She had that look to her, as though she hadn’t smiled a day in her life.
In some ways, it remind Natasha of her own youth. "This is her?" She asked, not looking up from the file, though she knew the answer that she would receive.
Her fingers traced over the name printed in black ink at the centre of the folder: Romanov, Ellia.
Peter’s confusion was evident when he spoke. "Yeah, that’s Ellia. But, Misses Black Widow, I really don’t understand-"
"You don’t need to understand, Parker." She smiled slightly, her teeth cutting into her lower lip until the familiar taste of copper flooded her mouth. "You can go now. I’m sure Stark needs you in the lab."

Summary
It wasn't that there was anything truly wrong with you. You had good grades, a good parent, good friends and a good life. Yet, you couldn't shake the constant feeling of emptiness, the constant need for an outlet, and the constant desire to just die.
Throughout the years, you had gone through many coping mechanisms, arguably healthier ones, such as smoking and sleeping around (even at the young age you were at), but none of them truly healed you. Nothing did. Nothing, until the first time you were offered that first hit of someone's weed, after swearing you would never touch it. All of your problems became quiet almost immediately, leaving you feeling nothing but relaxation and a sense of calmness.
So, you kept using it.
But as time progressed, it got harder and harder to hide the smell so you switched from smoking it, to edibles but the effects were not the same. You needed something stronger. And so the addiction progressively got worse, reaching to a point that you would take anything you could get your hands on. After all, a release is a release, right?
It wasn't like anyone caught on. Until, one day, they did.
