He’s been out here for a long time. He can’t quite feel much of his feet, his fingers on his right hand still cold where they’re tucked into the sleeve of Clark’s jacket, and his nose is incredibly numb. He starts to reach up to poke at it only to drop his hand again. He’s drunk, not childish.

“Anybody broken?” He hears Bucky say, somewhere further back, and increases his pace. It’s not like he’s embarrassed about getting hit, has been in the line of fire long enough to know that there’s no shame in it, and yet somehow, with this team, he has the overwhelming urge to show as little weakness as possible.
Yelena would have a field day with that line of thinking, would lecture him about trust issues and team cohesion and a slew of other complaints, but what she doesn’t know won’t kill her.
It’s not like any of them trust him, anyway, so it’s all a bit hypocritical.
