    But then he disappeared — showing up out of nowhere injured on his doorstep.

    And now, Danny was incubating Ellie inside him. And Jason couldn't help but do his best to protect them. Even if it meant lying and saying the child inside Danny was his.

    He begged for time to be good and for his fate to be merciful to them all. Begged that at least from the roof of the manor, the stars would be visible.

    We greet you on the knife’s-edge of the Balance that you have broken. We seek that which you have taken and sundered. We reach, now, from within that palm, to correct your blind fumbling.
    Summon your counsel. Await our arrival.
    The comms were silent. The snowing sensation had resolved within Tim’s mind but it was still there, a banked presence that he could reach for, and when he did, he heard the message again. His breathing came faster and harder.
    Jason was the first to react.
    “What the fuck?”

No one's ever heard him speak. Anyone who's ever seen him says he looks like an experiment gone wrong, that Hood picked him up somewhere unspeakable. They say he'll do anything Red Hood asks of him and he'll do it well. That he's strong and fast and probably inhuman. The girls say he's sweet, quiet but charming in his own way. Rival gangs say he's vicious, that he'd sooner rip your throat out than let you go. Jason just wants to help him.

    Danny's been High King for years now. More than half his life. His parents? Reformed. His arch nemesis? Retired. The GIW? Still there, but not much of a threat anymore. Until someone got a lucky shot with a brand new, and extra nasty weapon that left Danny fighting not to just retreat into his core.

    Good thing Frostbite told him about a way to condense himself to save energy and heal. Sure, making himself shrink is a little weird, but as long as it gets the job done, right? A quick portal jump and he'll be home and can just rest and relax until he's strong enough to go back to normal.

    ...Maybe he jumped a little too far. Because he's never heard of this Gotham place, and who the heck is Batman? Wait, they've got superheros here?! (And they're cute. Oh no.)
