Johnny pulls off one of his long dishwashing gloves and sticks out his hand. “Okay, Mark. Hi, I’m John.”
Mark laughs and bats his hand away. “You don’t have to do all that. You’re not a stranger.”
“Might as well be. We haven’t seen each other in years. And I’d like to get to know you.”
Johnny extends his hand again, and Mark looks down at it, a little skeptical, before finally taking it. Johnny shakes it firmly and says again. “Hi Mark. I’m John Suh.”
Mark giggles—a familiar sound, though with a huskier lilt now. “Hello John. I’m Mark Lee.”
He doesn’t mean to disappear. But time passes. Life gets busy. And at some point, without really noticing, Johnny realizes it’s been more than fifteen years since he last set foot in the old neighborhood.

Until he meets Mark.

Johnny spends his last summer before college all alone in Korea with his grandparents and unexpectedly meets someone that might make this whole trip worth it.
