“I’m sorry,” Nom tried to apologize.
“Nuh uh,” Scot replied, cupping Nom’s face and forcing him to look him in the eyes, “It’s okay to cry. I’m glad I can be here for you. There are so many people who care for you, including Katie, and we all just want to help. So let us, please.”
Nom stayed quiet, just searching Scott’s calming gaze for signs of untruth or disappointment. There were none.
