Summary
It had been all but obvious to anyone who knew her that Anne didn’t like boys, but it wasn’t until Amphibia gave her the opportunity for serious self-reflection that she really put a label to it and let it sink in. She came out as a lesbian in eighth grade, shortly after returning and a year before Sasha did, but it wasn’t much of a surprise to anyone at that point.
She was far from obsessed with finding a partner, but she had seemed more open to it and excited about the premise once she began to genuinely recover from grieving Amphibia. She’d dated casually here and there, and Sasha’s opinions about Anne’s dates were widely positive. Even still, much like Sasha, Anne had never exactly qualified any of those instances as serious, so she never seemed to get too attached or torn up when they inevitably didn’t last.
But now there was one girl who seemed to be sticking around.
And, as luck would have it, Sasha did NOT like her.

Summary

One night, as Sasha repents in a private, bloody ritual, she learns that with each pass of the knife, she’s cutting into Anne’s heart and soul just as much as her own.
One night, after finishing a round of graveyard shift lookout duty, Anne discovers how her silence lead to both her and Sasha becoming strangled by unspoken longing.
All a sour and bitter half & half needs is the perfect amount of sugar in the form of three simple words.
“I love you.”

Luckily, cult brainwashing requires people who are so unhappy with some part of their lives they actually want to be in a cult, and Sasha can't think of anything like that for her.

Brigitte huffs, twisting onto her side to face Ginger for the third time in the past ten minutes. Shaking so violently she begins to wonder if she’ll even make it to see their pact’s rotten end. When the wind picks up again and something rather loud—a rock or a branch or a severed hand, her tired mind unhelpfully supplies—crashes against the glass, Brigitte sharply inhales.
Giving another cursory glance to the right side of the room and finally caving in. Teeth still chattering away as she faintly calls out, “Ginge?”
Ginger’s answer, as always, is immediate. “Get over here already.”
