He shouldn’t. He knows he shouldn’t.
But he does anyway: “So. Uh. Know of one other thing.” Ed looks down, picking at the shark tooth on his jacket, trying to act cazh. He’s not sure it’s working.
“Oh yes?” Stede sounds beyond delighted. His face brightens so much he almost doesn’t look like he hasn’t gotten a wink of sleep. (Almost.)
“Um, yeah. But…” Ed clears his throat. “Can I…uh…tell you what it is somewhere else? Like…in a more private place?”

Summary
After Stede texted a wrong number and accidentally met Ed in Pink Flags and they go on their first real life date, they try to work out how they can fit their lives around each other.
Recently out of an abusive and controlling relationship, Ed is inspired to take back control of his own life when he sees how recovering alcoholic Stede is doing the same.
They didn't set out looking for love, in fact they'd both given up on ever finding it, but just like in every universe, once they enter each other's orbit they can't escape.
This is the story of two changed people taking back control and working out how to fit into each other's lives without letting their pasts get in the way. Love can't heal or fix things, but it could be the reason to try.
