Summary
Shinri decides to explore some old ruins in the Badlands and meets a demon.
The snarl is louder by the time he returns it to the trunk. It buzzes in Shinri's bone marrow like a hive of angry bees. That buzz spikes into a heady pleasure-pain as a massive weight crashes into the door.
The door groans beneath the strain but must've been well-crafted and cared for once upon a time, holding up against the onslaught. A sharp-tipped tail swipes beneath the gap under it, seeking flesh and instead slicing into the stone wall like a knife through marshmallow fluff.
"Impudent little mouse," growls the entity outside the door. It's a savage sound, the heady pleasure-pain from before sinking into vibrating throughout Shinri's entire body. Then it softens into a mocking croon, urging him, "Come out, come out, meddlesome creature. Perhaps I'll make your death a merciful one."
It laughs insincerely, clearly uninterested in offering any degree of mercy.
Shinri's lips twitch despite himself. Whatever is on the other side of the door sounds incredibly pleased with itself. Cute.

Ruze is haunted.

Gavis Bettel is cursed.
…which sounds like a nothing statement, honestly. Of course Gavis Bettel is cursed. Bettel's entire existence is some sort of sick cosmic joke. He's been cursed from the very beginning.
That's not the curse he's talking about though.
No, that's normal. Manageable. He's survived that curse up until now but this new one is threatening to be the end of him. The worst part is he doesn't even know how he's gotten himself saddled with a new, shiny, exceptionally fucked up curse.
And it is a curse because he'd endured an excruciatingly embarrassing conversation with Magni about it (who'd laughed at him for three entire minutes and then shrugged, saying, "I dunno, sounds like a curse to me" which hadn't been helpful in the slightest) just to make sure it wasn't the side effects of some potion or something. If only Bettel could be that lucky.
For the last month and a half, Gavis Bettel has been cursed with a permanent erection and the inability to get himself off.

A wicked breeze sweeps through. Tender leaves tremble away from its touch as it rustles the hair of the oblivious young man who's captured its focus. Cowardly beasts cringe away in search of safer places to nest and hunt and rut. Dumb and cowardly as they may be, they're wise enough to scent the promise of danger darkening the wind's edges like lifeblood dripping from a sharpened blade.
Zephyr spares them neither its focus not its hate. The latter it has in excess for all the worthless creatures upon this earth. The former it reserves only for the man before it.
"Toss up your sorrows to the wind," it murmurs in a voice the man lacks the sense to hear. "Each one I'll sharpen into such a lovely thing, as deadly in my hold as I am in yours, my wielder."
Perhaps he does not lack the sense as sorely as most living things. Zephyr's wielder is extraordinary, after all, the only thing of value amid so much waste. He pulls the great axe closer and Zephyr smiles in the way of axes and wicked winds, winding itself around him.
"There is nothing within this world greater than the love I give you," it says. "Why waste your precious tears on it?"

Only two details are known: the job is to be done in a little mountain town, and that the payout is astronomical.
