“So, your dad’s coming tomorrow?” Percy asks.
“Yep.” Annabeth pops off for the second time in as many minutes. It’ll be great, she thinks. He’ll try to give me a hug but won’t, I’ll pretend it’s not awkward, and we’ll spend the three-hour drive back to Gotham in deafening silence, both of us wishing we knew what to say. A killer Christmas Eve really, they should make Hallmark movies about my dad and me.
Percy’s eyes widen, and Annabeth realizes she’s said everything aloud.
“I didn’t know you grew up in Gotham,” Percy blessedly picks to comment. “Ever meet Batman?”

Percy’s eyes had widened. “No. No way. Bruce Wayne is such a goof, there’s no way--,”

Jason frowned at him and crossed his arms on instinct, getting defensive “It’s abandoned!” He knew he had no right to be here. But this kid sure didn’t either.
“I live here,” the child replied simply.
Jason stared at him. The mysterious child stared back.

The Drake Manor has been empty for years. Everyone knows that. The couple who owned it vanished on one of their archaeological expeditions, leaving behind dust, shadows, and rumors of a ghost.
Jason Todd doesn't believe in ghosts. But when Dick dares him to prove it, he finds something worse: a kid, alone, starving, barely surviving in the abandoned house next door. Tim doesn't need rescuing. He needs someone who'll come back.

Tim scowled. “And that matters why? I hardly see how that relates to me. I didn’t even know your interest in me until after Z shot a grenade at my face.” He ignored the way saying Z’s name sends a zing of grief down his spine.
“It matters, because in addition to other… factors, it points to the Council of Spiders hunting not the League of Assassins, but rather-”
“Me.”
The revelation is alarming.

It's been proven to Tim several times that 'dead' doesn't exactly mean gone. For once it's not Ra's being a weirdo stalker, but someone else from his past... Meanwhile the rest of Tim's family would very much like their over-caffeinated, sleep deprived brother to stop wandering off to the other side of the planet, thanks.
