Summary
Shouto realized that his perspective on friendship was wrong. It isn’t something weak that holds you back but instead can be a source of strength that pushes you forward. Having friends inspires one to want to do better, to want to work harder, and succeed alongside your friends. His asshole of a father has kept him from discovering how wonderful having friends is, but Shouto isn’t going to let that severe emotional trauma stop him from having what normal high school teenagers his age has.
Unfortunately, due to that trauma, his aloof and distant demeanor, not to mention his antisocialness, he’s pretty much created a barrier between him and his peers that he isn’t quite sure how to break down yet. That doesn’t mean that Shouto is going to give up and stop trying though. He wants to be friends with the person who saved him, the person who reminded him of why he wanted to become a hero, and reignited that passion inside of him.
Shouto wants to be friends with Izuku…how exactly is he going to do that? He hasn’t figured it out yet, but he’s going to do it! He’s going to become Izuku’s friend! His best friend! The closest person to Izuku that there is!

Izuku stood on the roof, staring down at the world below. Rain pitter pattered onto the concrete slabs, some splattered onto Izuku’s skin. Everything seemed so tiny and manageable, everything seemed possible from up here. Izuku stepped towards the railing, letting his hand trace over the fenced edges that pressed against his skin (the ones he was thrown at). Strange how something that was meant to protect you only delivered more pain than help. Not that it meant much to him now, Izuku was going to die anyway.
