At least half of the looks were envious, understandably. Kenma got it. His soulmate was likely going to recognize who Kenma was to them immediately, whereas most every other person in the country wasn’t going to recognize a particular shade of dark brown or black.
The other half of the gazes were confused, and Kenma got that too, because who the fuck had hair the color of a goddamn tangerine?
On your fifth birthday, your hair changes color to the exact shade of your soulmate's natural hair. For most people, finding your soulmate can be impossible, but when Kozume Kenma looks in the mirror everyday and sees bright orange hair, he thinks it's impossible for his soulmate not to find him.

Summary

Hinata is 11 when his step father pushes him just a bit too far, falling asleep with a tear soaked pillow he doesn’t even register the strange pain on his calf.
Kenma is 12 when he wakes up to a strange sensation on his leg. The newly imprinted mark of a red and orange sun shining bright back at him when he investigates the feeling.
Watch along as one very oblivious Hinata and one very sweet Kenma navigate a complicated world of soulmates, friends, family, volleyball and love.
